Children's Immunisations

In the past women had a lot of children as the child mortality rates were high. Over the past 50 years vaccinations have been designed and put into wide scale use in the UK and developed countries to prevent our children from suffering from some of the infections which caused these children to die. As a result we rarely see infections such as whooping cough, tetanus, polio, measles, mumps and rubella and because of the reduction in the levels of infections there has been a substantial reduction in childhood mortiality particularly in developed countries where these infections have been, in most cases, completely prevented. Vaccinations for chickenpox are also available.

Immunisations start at the age of 2 months and are repeated at 3 and 4 months old. More immunizations are given at 12 and 13 months and pre school age.

FAQ
Q: Should I be worried about vaccinating my child with the MMR vaccine?

A: There remains no clinically proven link between MMR and Autism. The media coverage of this in the 1990’s has been fully investigated and no link could be found. The doctor involved in the allegations has been suspended as many women chose not to vaccinate their children following the media coverage of this doctors work. The outcome has been an increase in the number of cases of Measles, Mumps and Rubella diseases. The increase in these infections means it is now even more important to protect your children against these illnesses. Clinical research and factual evidence shows that inadequate vaccination programs will lead to a resurgence of these previously controlled diseases. The various, potentially life-threatening, symptoms and complications of these illnesses will increase, bringing even more need to protect your children.
