6 Weeks and beyond
Many parents wonder what their little one should do at certain stages of development and whether their child is developing quickly, in line with or slower than other children of a similar age. There are some golden rules to remember in child development.
- No two children are the same
- Comparisons between children can lead to parental and child distress
- Children usually develop in one area faster than another but normally the slower one catches up in the end.
- If there are signs of developmental delay or you are worried about your child please seek the guidance of your GP who can assess development and investigate problems if needed.
Child development can be divided into four general areas.
- Personal and Social skills
- Gross motor skill
- Fine motor and vision
- Language and Hearing
