Emma has been practising complementary therapies and acupuncture since the early1990’s. She now specialises in fertility and women’s health; conception, IVF support, pregnancy and postnatal care, and describes her approach to treatment as eclectic.
As well as her special interest in fertility and reproduction Emma has considerable experience in working with addiction and immune system disorders. She is particularly interested in the part the immune system plays in infertility.
Much of Emma’s early experience was gained working at the award winning Gateway Clinic in South London. It was there that she served an apprenticeship and later worked there as part of a team treating G.P. referred patients. She has also worked as a consultant for a variety of organisations including NHS, Boots the Chemist, Granada TV, the Wellbeing Channel and at The Zita West Clinic.
She has presented on fertility for The Princes Foundation For Integrated Health and at the First International Integrated Acupuncture Seminar on Fertility at The Royal College of Physicians. And undertaken post-graduate training with The Royal College of Obstectrics and Gynaecology in The Management of Infertile Couples.
Her experience has given her a unique overview of both complementary and Western medicine and feels that both contribute to positive therapeutic outcome for the patient. She feels that for advanced fertility issues Western medicine is necessary but where the problem is unknown or relatively minor complementary medicines are often more appropriate.
Emma believes that lifestyle and emotions can have a big impact on our general health and fertility. She is dedicated to providing clients with an integrated approach to fertility and pre-conceptual care; helping couples raise their general health levels with a view to achieving healthy pregnancies and healthy babies.
Emma has been practicing at Westover House as an acupuncturist and fertility advisor since it opened in 2001. In 2005 she became co-director of The Westover House Fertility Clinic with Mr Michael Dooley.
She now practises from Westover House and Brompton Cross Clinic.
She lives in South London with her husband and two young daughters.
She states that although she has had many great teachers, it is her patients that keep her learning.
Constantly my patients drive me to questions, and constantly my questions drive me to patients. Oliver Sacks
